Lanzarote is a Spanish island that lies around 1,000km from the Iberian coast, the makes the most easterly of the Canary Islands. The central area of the island is a protected area which includes the small villages of Tias, Teguis, Yaiza and San Bartolome. Cesar Manrique is the most famous artist to come out of Lanzarote, there is a foundation dedicated to him on the south of the island. The foundation is located in a house that belonged to Cesar himself. El Golfo on the south coast is a rare area that demonstrates hydro-volcanism.
